Frequent Questions Tirzetapide

Frequent Questions

Tirzepatide It is safe, especially when being monitored at our clinic. We take the safety of our patients very seriously and it's our top priority. The medication was granted FDA approval on November 8th, 2023.

91% of adults taking Zepbound® (Tirzepatide) 15 mg achieved clinically meaningful weight loss of ≥5% at 72 weeks.

Tirzepatide works by activating two key receptors in the body:
GLP-1 Receptor (Glucagon-Like Peptide-1 Receptor):

  • This receptor helps increase the production of insulin (a hormone that lowers blood sugar) in response to meals.
  • It also slows down the emptying of the stomach, which helps you feel full longer and reduces the amount of sugar entering the bloodstream.

GIP Receptor (Glucose-Dependent Insulinotropic Polypeptide Receptor):

  • Activation of this receptor also enhances insulin production in response to food.
  • Additionally, it helps to suppress the production of glucagon (a hormone that raises blood sugar levels), which helps keep blood sugar more stable.

By targeting both of these receptors, tirzepatide helps to regulate blood sugar more effectively than targeting just one receptor. This dual action can lead to better control of blood sugar levels and in turn better weight loss benefits.

Some weight loss medications are intended for short-term use, while others might be part of a longer-term plan. This is going to be different for everyone and is based on their weight loss goals. Once you reach your goal weight, the idea is to start weaning off the medication.

The goal is to reach a weight you are comfortable at.  Once you are there, we will begin to wean you off the medication by slowly lowering the dose until we are able to titrate you off completely. There is a chance of weight regain if one is not conscientious about food intake, the amount of calories consumed, and physical activity. This is an important phase of treatment and we work very closely with each patient during this time.

This medication delays gastric emptying, which may interfere with some medications.  We complete a thorough medical history on every patient.  Please make sure to disclose all medications you are taking so our providers can advise if there are any interactions. It is important to note that you can only be on one injectable weight loss medication and that oral birth control (pills) can be less effective during treatment with tirzepatide.

Tirzepatide is contraindicated in patients with a personal or family history of thyroid cancer called medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC), in patients with an endocrine system condition called Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2), and in patients who have had a serious allergic reaction to Tirzepatide.

We currently do not accept any insurance. Our prices start at $350/month for the lowest dose and cost will increase with higher doses.
